Why is my life Inspired by Collecting?

My personal way of understanding being ‘a human’ – is that we are each a collection. A gathering of something.

Going through life it is inevitable that we collect ‘stuff’. It’s a very natural habit of humans, to ‘collect’… Maybe you’re not a hoarder per se, but the fact that you have a family, or friends, a relationship, a computer or electronic device to read this, or even the capacity TO read… basically means you’ve collected something. Be it memories, knowledge, neurological pathways (aka habits),  nuances, scars, injuries, experiences, germs, cells, atoms, gas… (sorry! but seriously). We are a collection…it’s called the human race for fuck’s sake. “Collective individuals” is our state of understanding.

I want to organise my ‘collections’; my experiences, stories, people, influences and knowledge.  Because these collections inspire me to do so; to relay what I am in each moment.

That sounds confusing, I know. But bear with me and try again. These ‘collections’ have inspired my life, in many ways, both positive and negative (yes I mean ‘negatively’ inspired). They have inspired me, to write about life exactly as I am right now, each day, in each moment. Not because they are anything new, or different. But because they are  MINE, and each collection makes up MY story.

Whatever you are, and whoever you are right now… is you… but only at this moment or this point in time/your life. This exact day could change who you were when you woke up this morning. And change the course of where you were going yesterday.

Pretty sure it already has, and if not, you can definitely remember a day that did.

You can’t deny it happens. It’s just the cyclical nature of being human. As much as we progress, we regress. Those sayings that tell you things like – ‘you cannot search the oceans until you lose sight of the shore’ …etc etc. tell people to let go of old ‘habits’ or ‘pathways’ or whatever word you use.

Who is to say that what you find on your ‘ocean adventure’ – won’t end up becoming your ‘shore’ later on? It could.. ok it probably will. And you probably will make similar judgements, investigations, accomplishments even fuck-ups etc. etc. Why? I don’t have the real answer. And I keep asking those questions every ‘new shore’ I get to. But I LOVE to theorise and come up with weird and wonderful ways to look at the world and encourage, inspire and motivate people to think outside their usual collection of beliefs or views. To try something else.

SO there, that’s a start, right? That’s a bit of a push as to why I am ‘inspired’. Not in the ‘sunshine rainbows and sugar-free lollipops (yes you read right), everything is ok’ kind of way, but for the sake of reality. For truth. For grit. For progress. For COLLECTING life inspirations. I love where TILCo is taking me, giving me a purpose I never knew existed, giving me a love for myself I never understood, and connecting me with people I wouldn’t have met, let alone loved (and love me in return) in my previous state of mind. I want to influence someone, somewhere in the world to open themselves to this possibility because if I can – I was a massive Wellbeing sceptic – anyone can.

If this kind of thing enthuses you, interests you or gives you something to chew on. Come back. Read again.

I’ll probably still be blabbing away.

You’re Welcome. 🌈  💛

I feel, fail and hurt just like you, but I also succeed, learn, and love like you too. I believe in Energy, in trying everything once, that connections happen for a reason, and I aim to collect as much life experience as I can. The Inspired Life Collective (TIL.Co) is a personal blog which focuses on me, and associated 'collections' of inspiration whilst doing #wellbeingmyway. Everyone's journey is different, but I hope to inspire others, around the world, to trust in the journey of ‘Wellbeing’ no matter how it's defined. 🌈 💛

  1. First of all I would like to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing. I’ve had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Thanks!

    1. Hi Commodity Trading (wish I knew your name),
Thanks for connecting, I find there is no ‘clearning my mind’ and writing the random mess that comes forth, allowing that to flow onto paper, or a voice recorded message, or a draft post gets be past the first hurdles. My biggest obstacle was actually perfectionism… but the second was that my website didn’t feel like home (it still doesn’t) and the fact that I wasn’t able to navigate it easily upset me stopped me from adding content. I draft, Edit then re-edit most of my things, sometimes even after they are published. PLenty of the time writing the draft, starts the ball rolling. I keep a bunch of drafts in a document that is accessible from all my devices so I can cut and paste bits. They then become the ‘inspiration’ for some posts. Let go of perfect writing – there is no harm in deleting, editing or re-writing once its on the blog/site – its your creation, it’s yours to change 🙂
